Dr. Suhail Ahmad Lone is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology at the University of Kashmir, India, specializing in mountain hydrology, hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry, stable isotope hydrology, cryosphere science, and climate change impacts on Himalayan water resources. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Geology from the University of Kashmir and was awarded the prestigious DST INSPIRE Fellowship. His research integrates stable water isotopes, environmental tracers, hydrochemistry, remote sensing, and field-based investigations to improve understanding of groundwater recharge, glacier and snowmelt hydrology, permafrost dynamics, and groundwater–surface water interactions in mountain environments. Dr. Lone has authored publications in leading international journals, including Earth-Science Reviews, Journal of Hydrology, Science of the Total Environment, Environmental Research, and Climate Dynamics. His research aims to advance scientific understanding of cryosphere–hydrology interactions, geogenic groundwater contamination, and sustainable water resource management under a changing climate. Dr. Lone is an active member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), European Geosciences Union (EGU), and International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), and serves as a reviewer for numerous high-impact international journals. Through interdisciplinary research and international collaborations, he is committed to developing science-based solutions for the sustainable management of Himalayan water resources and enhancing resilience to climate change.
